Nourishing Spaces, which was launched in June 2017, is an IDRC-funded research and advocacy project working on food security, food systems and governance in neighbourhoods in Cape Town and Kimberley (SA), Windhoek and Oshakati (Namibia), and Nairobi and Kisumu (Kenya).

Ultimately, the project aims to support local governments and community stakeholders in each study site to utilize the knowledge generated from this research to develop local action plans and interventions that will help to reduce the burden of food-related non-communicable diseases.

As part of her on-going research in Masiphumelele, Cape Town researcher Jo Hunter-Adams has created video logs of the process of setting up and running school vegetable gardens.
