Prior to accepting this position Mr. Braine served as the chairman of the South African Cities Network and special advisor to the South African Minister for Provincial and Local Government. Mr. Boraine has held a number of posts in the public sector during his career. He has served as the City Manager for the City of Cape Town, as well as a senior official in the Department of Constitutional Development in South Africa during the post-apartheid transition and as a member of the Financial and Fiscal Commission of South Africa assigned to the local government finance portfolio. Mr. Boraine interests and publications have included themes such as urban renewal and cultural strategies; urban regeneration and public-private partnerships for city development. Mr. Boraine is an adjunct professor within the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Cape Town.
