ACC Graduate Symposium

The University of Cape Town’s 2026 spring graduation is taking place from 07 – 09 September 2026. This will also mark the largest combined number of African Centre for Cities’ graduates to date across our two degrees Masters in Sustainable Urban Practice and MPhil in Urban Studies – Southern Urbanism.

On the 7th, we will host the ACC Graduate Symposium to congratulate and celebrate from the two degrees. This is the second hosting of the event, following a pilot launch in 2024. In addition to celebrating the graduates’ shared learning and individual research, the symposium will bring together current and past cohorts from both programmes to engage in dialogues about their experiences of, and experiments with, the necessary intertwining of urban practice and theory, particularly from the vantage points of African and southern cities.
