Mary Lawhon

Mary Lawhon is a post-doctoral researcher focusing on urban political ecology in the African context. Her academic background combines natural and social sciences to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of the human-environment nexus. Mary holds a B.Sc. from the University of Kansas in environmental studies (2003), a Master of Environment and Development from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2004) and a Ph.D. from Clark University (2011).
Mary is current working with the MISTRA Urban Futures and Ways of Knowing Urban Ecology projects, and is soon to be taking a position as a lecturer at the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology at the University of Pretoria

    Urban Political Ecology in African Cities Workshop

    The Situated Urban Political Ecologies Platform will host a workshop to discuss critical approaches to urban environmental research at the University of Pretoria on 26 March 2015. The workshop is targeted at young scholars interested in urban environmental research. More information here
