8-12 NOVEMBER: EXPLORING SPATIAL ENGAGEMENT THROUGH PLAYFUL INTERVENTIONS

Serious Fun is a DALA/ACC initiative that will test the assumption that gaming offers a unique way of drawing in different kinds of people to address urban issues in an engaging way through researching and experimenting in urban public spaces. It is part of the broader City Desired events program. Running between 8 and 12 November, the Serious Fun program consists of a number of experiments to test this assumption. A highlight of the various activities which include gaming and participatory processes on themes that include Food, Climate Change and Land will culminate in the Serious Fun Symposium on 13 November at City Hall, Cape Town. The symposium will feature local and international practitioners to share share experiences and reflections on the possibilities of gaming as a method of exploring and understanding the city.
